Every year, students at White Eagle Elementary are invited to support the Salvation Army’s Angel Giving Tree program by providing holiday gifts for children in need. As their service project for the year, our Fifth grade students and their families help to coordinate this program, first by learning about the program in November, and then by sharing their knowledge with their Kindergarten through Fourth grade peers. Fifth grade family volunteers also assist students with tag selections and collecting gifts in the circle drive during morning drop off. The culminating event is the loading of gifts, where White Eagle families gather to move the gifts to a vehicle for transport to the Salvation Army. This is one the most touching parts of the experience as families form a “human chain” to pass the gifts along. All students will be given backpack flyers with information about the program and detailed instructions about the process soon. The generosity of our White Eagle families has always been overwhelming and we look forward to another successful year of gift giving!
