Give your gently used winter coats new life!

Along with the PTA, our White Eagle second graders are once again helping serve families in need this season by sponsoring White Eagle Elementary’s coat, boot and winter accessories clothing drive with the goal of providing some extra warmth to families during the cold Chicagoland winter.

This year, more than ever, we expect there to be a tremendous need for new or gently used winter coats, boots, hats, gloves, scarves and mittens. Many families have been faced with job-loss or reduced working hours for an extended period of time, and the added cost of winter apparel for the family can be a hefty expense. ALL sizes of winter outer-wear from infants to adults will be accepted and every item will be distributed to families in need.

Due to social distancing restrictions, there will only be one drop-off window for this year’s coat drive. Volunteers will be at White Eagle Elementary to collect your gently used or new winter wear on Circle Drive this Friday, October 16th from 4pm to 6pm. Simply put your donations in a plastic bag labeled “Donations” and pull into Circle Drive with the items in your trunk or back seat. Please do not exit your vehicle. A volunteer will retrieve the items for you. Please note that donations will not be collected during student drop-off times.

If you cannot make Friday’s drop-off window, don’t worry! We have partnered with our local Boy Scouts Troop who will be picking up donations around the neighborhood between 4pm and 6pm. Simply leave your clearly marked donations at the end of your driveway and one of the Scouts will pick up your donations and deliver them to the collection point for you!

At a time when we are all feeling a little bit lonely and missing our friends, it helps to be a part of doing something positive in the local community. We are proud to support the second grade service project and we hope you will join us in donating! And if you and your child would like to volunteer to collect donations, you can sign up HERE
